Children and Teens

I am no longer seeing children or teens younger than college age. However, I have changed the focus of my practice to help in a different and more specialized way. With 30+ years of combined experience as a master’s level educator, learning disability specialist, school counselor, and dean of faculty, I have a unique perspective working with and supporting parents of children and teens who have dealt with interpersonal and school related struggles through therapy and parent coaching.  I have developed curriculum for children who learn differently, I have trained faculty on childhood development and best teaching practices, and I have led parent workshops on helping children and teens manage their learning and development. I am a trainer in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) from the TCU Child Development Center, a certified ADHD therapist, and a trauma informed child and teen therapist. I am also a licensed parent psychotherapist (LPC-S) and coach with four decades of experience helping parents navigate the joyful yet sometimes perilous role of being a parent.

College Students and Young Adults

I support college students and young adults by focusing on ways to help them feel heard and understood.  Many at this time of life find it helpful to have someone to talk to who is not a parent, friend, or teacher.  My hope is to close the loop of communication between family and friends so that the young adult’s self-image and relationships with others may improve. As a past school counselor for high school students, I not only enjoy being with young adults, I have learned so much about life from their point of view and what their greatest concerns are in our rapidly changing world.
